First, while it may not rate as much compared with what you all experience, last week's storm was the most violent I have seen in many a long year, and it was followed a week later by the first hail storm I can remember. While some suburbs copped golf-ball size, all we got was tiny pellets.

Most of our hail storms occur during Spring, but the worst I've seen occurred during the height of Summer! Was at the grocery, the lights started flickering, heard thunder, and figured that when I exited the front door I'd see a rainstorm. Instead there were huge balls of hail covering the parking lot and still coming down, bouncing all over the place!

Dressed for the low 90s, we were all shivering...right up until it stopped falling. And then it turned into a mighty steam bath in short order with all that precip melting on that hot blacktop parking lot. And, of course, we had to stand there waiting for the ice balls to melt so that we could push our carts to the cars. Didn't take long, but we were all drenched in sweat and steam by that time.

Then, after seeing my first koel, and the return of my possum, I saw something else which had me absolutely delighted.

Feeding the birds, I saw a swarm of butterflies. Totally unexpected. It began with dozens, but within the hour I'd estimated hundreds.

Then I read there were millions seen.

Don't remember ever seeing this, though it has happened before.

Hoo boy.

Nice.

I've seen swarms of them here in mid-Spring before, but not as numerous as you seemed to have seen there.

As I told Reed, two hours after polls closed my Socialist ALP looked a safe bet.

By the time counting finished, they had an absolute majority so will run the State for the next four years.

Looks like politics had nothing to do with it. Instead, though our Premier has been criticised for closing the State because of COVID-19, it looks like that was the dominating factor.

The Capitalist leader, after first saying she would stay on, has now resigned.

I thought COVID-19 was going to be a larger issue here than it seems to have been. Must say, I really don't understand some of these yahoos...and they don't get global warming either...

There was one in west Texas, years ago, they actually had to clear the roads with front loaders! Golf ball size over a large area.

In Northern Minn it wasn’t as big, nickel size, but it happened in the boundary waters and broke a lot of parked car windshields or windows. Some weren’t due back to their car for a week. We were parked in a different area and hadn’t gone into the wilderness so we could check on the car — no damage. I still hoped the forest service would blue tarp them!

Before we went in there had been a storm with a huge outage. Apparently being in a Target without power isn’t a good thing, when getting back to your car means navigating a bad storm, you’re sort of caught. One of our campers was caught still in transit up.

Yeah, I think now you can get both. The green doesn’t have all those cute numbers on them!

Personally I’m not a fan of either one!

And they’d still be called blue screen regardless of color now, anyway!

Nice wasn’t it! I still want him to find a way to start controlling the pandemic. I think with Trump saying he is leaving control to the governors that we have a chance to start early!

For some reason recently I keep forgetting my passport is near useless!

Just got my drivers license renewal in order to get a real id it seems I need to produce 2 real ids! Or at least the 2 I have are on the list! Seems silly to get a state real id!

Recently I was asked for what I thought was a real id, turned out she said photo I’d! But I responded with that is a real id! To find out what she’d said. Both of my real ids are photo ids! She wanted an address verification I think. My address hasn’t changed in 20 years!

Never dealt with a passport so never used one as an ID.

Have my DL and a State ID (that spelled my name WRONG), but only my DL has my address on it.

Used my house payment and electrical bills as proof for something so long ago that I cannot remember what it was for...maybe voter registration when I moved into this district?

Quiet day today but still feeling out of sorts now that the Biden win euphoria has worn off a little. Plus Miz Baby had a restless night and kept me awake for the most part.

My issue was with a lab for a mammogram, iirc! I’m in their system, but ....

My DL often is not with me when I’m out of the car. My secondary insurance is a REAL ID, with photo. I just get annoyed when they ask for picture and then don’t accept it. Of course I’m prepared to argue that a passport is a State id even though it’s not a state I’d.

When I was in California for the summer the library needed proof of address. I was living with my parents but they knew how to solve that, they would accept any piece of recent mail addressed to me, with a postmark. Years ago I successfully used a letter for proof for something else. They had to think about it, but Virginia didn’t require a new DL be issued when you moved, just that they were notified and you hand wrote the new address on the back or another piece of paper they issued. So, it really doesn’t guarantee address better than mail!

Mis Baby probably sensed a change in you, less tense perhaps, but a change.

Get well soon.

Haven’t checked the numbers lately, but the crap going on in the courts of PA is scary. Officials are being threatened with the second amendment as 60 minutes broadcasted, and it’s possible that our legislature is indeed corrupt! I’ve mention before they admitted that they had created a law to guarantee Mitt Romney would win.

Depending upon who the Dems run in 2024, I assume Kamala, we are talking about registering Republican. That happened in reverse and may have caused Obama to carry the state. They were sure he was easier to beat. Without Sarah Palin that might have been possible!

Hey y'all!
Been a very busy week with the renovation and it ain't looking like it's gonna get much better anytime soon.

Between that, updating this computer, dealing with family issues, and having to baby my back, I'm running low on energy and don't have much time to spend here lately.

Mom is still hanging on, but is becoming weaker by the day. She's already lasted longer than the 1 -2 weeks the doctors predicted, and we're all just taking it one day at a time.

Still having a little computer trouble but Dell is working with me to get her running as well as my last one did. Was really spoiled by my last computer, but SIA (Denise) and her husband had done their fancy footwork on it before I got it, so it was a real gem.

Don't remember if I told y'all that I lost my helper, but it seems she moved again and I have now lost touch with her. Things have gotten much more difficult for me without her.

Reed, have you heard anything from Bryan lately. Sent him an email but have heard nothing back. Kinda concerned about him but I have so little time to spend trying to track him down...

Starving so I gotta find me something to eat but I'll check in again in a few days.

i had been wondering where Bryan was too. Iirc his daughter had sort of disappeared too. As for your Mom, I’ve known a few senior seniors that lasted quite a time as long as they were eating, but they weren’t really dealing with dementia which must make it hard.

You’ve been missed by a few too, glad to see you pop up before Groundhog DayLOL! I wish you could find another helper, I’d think a college student, or maybe even high school might want a few shekels to pay bills or just pocket money. You had a good deal with folks that just needed more help.

For some reason I’ve been overdosing on rehab and flip shows. Show that try to regain the charm of the old house while making it functional.

OK, heard from Bry...and thanks!

There is no one close by that I already know and I don't want to have to vet people that I don't know in this COVID mess, Reed, so I'll just struggle along.

Computer is coming along but it's still slower than I'm used to. Will have Dell take a look at it again whenever I get up a good measure of patience...Smile-Big :D Been running a bit low on that lately.

I'm still working on my afghan as time allows and it's coming along quite nicely. I'm making this one in the full afghan length rather than the lapghan length shown. Doin' it in a dark cherry red, with a much wider border than shown on that one, done in a nice heather grey with a red stripe going around it. Gonna look nice in my new living room on a grey sofa...

Mom is still slowly going downhill...and everything else is about the same.

I was glad to hear from bry too! That was the second email, that he answered! The first one was just nice! No threats!

As for vetting others, I hear you! I’d have started from the church, years ago. Now I’m sort of at a loss even as I tried to find roofers. After that it took a while to get the gutters, but we love them! Still things need doing, garage doors, a sunroom window with a gas leak, and some shutters. But I’m not having to wait to move for those.

The Afghan still is interesting I did a shrug which needs to be sewn before I can do the trim for the armholes, but in reality, I’ve got too many yarn things! Gonna start getting rid of several of them. One we got in a drawing that we bid on just so there were tickets in the persons bucket.

Hang in there, I’m just waiting for our votes to be certified next Monday! Geezzzz

Lines from a movie thirty something years ago:

"Why the mask?"

"Someday everyone will be wearing one."

Could the writer of that movie have been prescient?

INCONCEIVABLE!

Nope - the Dread Pirate Roberts.

Or technically, one of his successors.

Even if one of the other characters kept using that word ("inconceivable"), apparently without knowing what it meant.
