Will do.

Having watched a few gangster/mob movies, I've said for quite some time now that he speaks like a street thug. Read this piece a while back and clearly I'm not the only one who's noticed it:

My dear JR, I suggest you wait until you can get your teeth around a decent prime steak before you read Robert Graves' novel King Jesus.

I reread it a little while ago, and am now going back to the early chapters for confirmation of my thoughts. Graves creates the character Agabus the Decapolitan, an educated Greek, as the "author", and I am all but certain Graves was covering his assets when he had Agabus assuring the reader "he had spared no pains to verify the historical background and that all important elements in his story are based on some tradition 'however tenuous'."

Agapus, of course, understands full well his Greek history and mythology, along with the history and mythology of the Canaanite people and many of the tribes associated with the Jews.

The book is jam-packed with detail, and comparisons are made between those cultures and that of the Jews, showing how the Jews started with a virtually identical religion then changed it to suit their own purposes. It is the similarities, the comparisons, Graves draws which would have had his head on a plate had he written it a few centuries earlier.

It will keep you quiet for a while.

As will the suggestions of just who sired whom.

From that site: In Anonymous’s telling, it took Trump’s reaction to the death of John McCain to make the author realize this presidency was qualitatively different.

Can't agree. From my reading, the author began to see it almost immediately, but the tear began a year earlier in the Charlottesville, VA Unite the Right/neo-Nazi rally (2017) where Trump couldn't bring himself to condemn them. John McCain's death (2018) was when the tear became irreparable.

The book is certainly well worth the read, especially if one is interested in a view of a Republican who was not a Never Trumper.

I would say that the author is likely a woman who is fairly close to the action, but not always with a front-row seat. Just a couple of clips in order to let you get the feeling of where this author has finally arrived:

quote:
No president in recent history has come to the Oval Office with such a mishmash of ideas and opinions than its current occupant. Ideologically, the Trump White House is like an Etch A Sketch. Every morning the president wakes up, shakes it, and draws something. It might be the same sketch as yesterday. Sometimes it's totally different or impossible to figure out. Nonetheless, he will call a top lieutenant to talk about his drawing, and the entire day will feel like a séance, with officials huddling to divine the mysterious squiggly lines and pretending they represent something meaningful.

quote:
That "April Fools" week was not special for any reason. It was like every week. The overall volume of the president's sensationalist rhetoric is astounding, and it will be archived for posterity, showing Donald Trump to be the least articulate president of all time. It's not just that his style of communicating is rambling or contentious. It's that he's laid waste to public decency. During the presidential debates, Trump told us not to elect Hillary Clinton--"Such a nasty woman," he said of her. Well, he got his way, and instead, we ended up with a nasty man.

quote:
If Trump's actions have turned the US government into one of his failed businesses, his rhetoric is turning our national stage into one of his reality television shows. It is no longer a preeminent forum for the debate of high-minded issues. The stage is fast becoming a drama-soaked series following the misadventures of a business tycoon navigating Washington in search of power and popularity, stirring up new controversies to capture the short attention span of a glass-eyed , zombie-like mob of spectators. They are desperate to be entertained, willing to be fooled, and easily provoked toward infighting by his unseemly antics. If you feel sick watching his production, imagine what it's like being part of the cast.

Seem to remember you saying that back on our earlier forum.

Taking my tongue out of my cheek, I will go on to say I watched part of Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 11/9 yesterday. Could not last the distance.

It is the second time I have seen him on SBS, so decided to look him up.

If this is even close to reality, Moore is doing what I have always wished I had the drive and initiative to do: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Moore

Problem is, it reinforces my conviction that not even someone as committed and knowledgeable as Moore can get through the thick heads.

Have read Conspiracy Theory for much of my life and, as I said many times, never accepted that the usual villains could possibly have been involved so it had to be a hoax.

In recent years I have had to change my mind about who the villains really are, because of the failures of so many international education systems.

Moore has fully confirmed my new thinking.

The final shot in Edge of Darkness immediately popped into mind for obvious reasons.

Maybe it is Mother Nature who is ensuring the election of Trump, Netanyahu, Scott Morrison, possibly Boris Johnson, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, certainly the leaders of Syria, some in Iran, and all the other countries in turmoil.

Wasn't Jehovah who caused Noah's flood for exactly the same reasons attributed to Adonai.

It was Her.

I do. However it all seems individual personal approaches. While I often agree, I don't seem able to come up with anything which adds to the conversations.

You will have seen how I respond to the likes of TruCon and Pawn 10. When that does not work I just try to vary my approach to achieve what I want.

Nothing quite like our Pub, is there.

You will not likely get a response from those two was my point. And yes there isn’t always something to add. I think it is starting to behave like the pub. Whether it continues after losing 2 people, who can still read but not respond, or not time will tell.

Which adds to my trivial frustration. I'm supposed to be qualified in NLP.

In a major way, though, that frustration must be shared by Michael Moore. He can not be any clearer in describing what is happening, yet I wonder just how much effect he has.

I see him in the same way I see so many others over the centuries who have exposed what is happening yet have always been ignored by the hoi polloi.

People with newer perceptions have always had trouble being heard. That means that those that are into conspiracy theories etc are listening to the early voices too! That got us the 5000 year earth, the flat earth societies (which seem to be growing), and others that have now been affirmed. While I think skeptism is good we should alway we wary of too much that has no data!

Btw, I just learned coral bleaching is now shown to be a bacteria. No idea how to kill it yet though.

Psshould I have been more direct and said they’ve been banded.

Well, I ordered on 4 May of this year...just about the time I started down this road of dental misery. I even started reading it, but nothing at that point could keep my attention.

Even now I cannot concentrate for long periods of time as I used to. Anything that is going to go far outside of my extensive Bible studies, and Barker's clarification, is going to require more concentration than I can give it at this time.

So you'll just have to wait.

I've seen a couple of his documentaries, but didn't know that he had done Fahrenheit 11/9. Will have to watch that one after Thanksgiving.

Well yeah, but the PTs intent was to be able to say stuff without certain posters stomping all over it. They weren't invited.

And 30 days without those 2 is gonna seem like a holiday gift! I'm liking it. A lot.

An if it becomes permanent, won't break my heart one bit.

Watched Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 11/9 last night.

Whoa...

But I must say, I'm not for a lot of big changes overnight since it tends to unsettle society, and especially we oldies but goodies a wee bit too much. That said, I do believe we should be headed quite steadily in the left direction toward democratic socialism.

Where’d you find it? I’ve tried to watch it a few times and it seems to disappear!

As for how fast to change it needs to be quicker than most are comfortable, but slow enough they can still hang on! Make America Great Again has to be a forward looking, forward motion ideal!

Cold as a witches' boob in a brass bra!

And it's not even freezing. But the wind and additional humidity make it feel like icicles in the air. Brrrr
