Bucket?

Of beer?

Or are you saying you've got a leak?

Another trip?

Thanks.

Look up Billies Swamp in Florida. Spent a few hours there today, much nicer than I thought! Airboat was still a bit breezy!

Some strange ones too! Saw a red billed black bird with small red on side. They eat the water lillies I’m told. In a good way.

Actually there is more to it than that.

Quite a great deal more, in fact.

As an old-line reporter I am increasingly concerned with the established fact that more people than ever are looking for opinions in their news sources instead of fact. I hammered my reporters with the insistence our job was only to gather all the facts we could; it was none of our business how our readers interpreted those facts.

I've spent much of my life in and around politics, even longer with mythology.

Someone mentioned 1984 on another thread, a book I read many a long year ago.

There are no doubt many genuine people at the top of the political and religious ladders.

Equally, there are no doubt many ruthless exploiters at the top of the political and religious ladders.

Then again, there are those who genuinely believe there are multiple levels of knowledge and some of those levels must necessarily be limited to the select few.

So what may be the difference between what is, and what is taught to believers in either field?

We still see posters on this forum who are unable to tell the difference between Democratic Socialism and Stalinist Communism, and it is not all that long ago I asked just where does one draw the line on Bible Literalism. Did Adonai really tell Moses he had created our planet a little more than 2000 years earlier, had regretted his decision and set out to wipe us out with a flood, then changed his mind again and saved eight people who became the originators of all people today (no mention of our Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA)?

Wish I had been able to copy a brief moment in a news clip where Pope Francis was defending his top clerics against child molestation charges. He suggested the Christian Devil may be behind these attacks.

And for a brief moment I read his body language as saying "If you believe that you'll believe anything".

If you feel up to it, read this one:

https://www.vox.com/2018/3/30/...iew-scalfari-italian

Like you, I deeply miss SIA.

Must go, or I will have no beer tonight.

Of less concern, I will have nothing to eat either.

That is as it should be. It most certainly limits the abuse such knowledge would be in the hands of the unscrupulous. Those who genuinely are searching will find the true teachings.

The difference? Night and day...

I figure they have all that they can handle or want. They likely wouldn't have a clue what to do with real spiritual knowledge and understanding. I figure it will remain that way until they are ready enough for it to actually begin to search for it.

Couldn't locate a video, but found this at americamagazine :
Vigano claimed Francis disregarded his 2013 warning and rehabilitated McCarrick from those sanctions, making him a key adviser and entrusting him with delicate missions to China and elsewhere.

Francis never responded to Vigano's laundry list of claims. Instead, Francis took to blaming the devil — "the Great Accuser" — for sowing division and discord in the church, an indirect jab at Vigano that only fueled conservative outrage at Francis and demands that he come clean about what he knew about McCarrick and when.

The Vatican didn't help Francis' standing any when, without providing any plausible reason, it blocked U.S. bishops from adopting accountability measures to try to restore trust with their flocks.

IMHO, they really need to change much of their doctrines and dogmas. It's way overdue.

Often wonder what became of her... Will be forever grateful to her for the many insights she was so gracious to share.

Made myself some lemon chicken soup the other day - without the parmesan cheese rind - since IMHO it muddies up the flavor. But I do add some sage because it always enhances chicken. Some pretty good stuff.

Francis like Trump even if he had good ideas could be limited by entrenched behind the scenes people with behind the scenes knowledge/ideas. I did though at my church (Catholic) once view a video put out by the Franciscans (Pope Francis the Jesuit actually picked his name to be/seem inclusive) that actually mentioned that we don't even know if Moses was a real person so some ideas do make their way out to the public. People can obviously research Denisovan/Neanderthal on their own (the topic even shows up in modern channeling as I mentioned earlier). Research-wise I actually think much of Abraham/Moses came via the life of Pharaoh Ay and flood myths started with the Younger Dryas Impact. Well hell/devil goes back to Zoroaster and the Zoroaster view kind of fits with a temporary (between lifetimes) state where your bad karma can make things unpleasant.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrianism

quote:
Major features of Zoroastrianism, such as messianism, judgment after death, heaven and hell, and free will may have influenced other religious and philosophical systems, including Second Temple Judaism, Gnosticism, Greek philosophy,[7] Christianity, Islam,[8] the Bahá'í Faith, and Buddhism... The House of Lies is considered temporary and reformative; punishments fit the crimes, and souls do not rest in eternal damnation.

The time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of many things.

If you are an Oyster, this may be a good time to leave the party.

Especially given those qualities attributed to oysters.

For many a long year I have had more than a mere suspicion that this is not only about molestation of children, rape of nuns.

Instead, we need to drop the modern artificial angst about sex and look at how our forebears thought of this act of nature.

Bearing in mind, of course, that for most of our existence we did not know that one thing led to another.

Then we woke up.

What changes took place in our thinking then and later?

https://slate.com/technology/2...se-of-pregnancy.html
While anthropologists and evolutionary biologists can’t be precise, all available evidence suggests that humans have understood that there is some relationship between copulation and childbirth since H$m$ sapiens first exhibited greater cognitive development, sometime between the emergence of our species 200,000 years ago and the elaboration of human culture probably about 50,000 years ago. Material evidence for this knowledge is thin, but one plaque from the Çatalhöyük archaeological site seems to demonstrate a Neolithic understanding, with two figures embracing on one side and a mother and child depicted on the other. A firmer conclusion can be drawn from the fact that, though explanations for conception vary wildly across contemporary cultural groups, everyone acknowledges at least a partial link between sex and babies.

So what is it our religious institutions have been hiding?

What has been their great secret?

https://kroabot.wordpress.com/...nointing-with-semen/
In 1906 Clément de Saint-Marq published his “L’Eucharistie”, which was essentially a sexual interpretation of the Mass. Reuss said that this text contained the central secret of the O.T.O., which was the union of man with God through consumption of semen – as allegedly taught by Jesus Christ!
...The Semetic (pun intended, do you think?) scholar of Sumerian philology, John M. Allegro, of Dead Sea Scroll fame, might ire them further for his research revealed that Jesus/Joshua in its Greek form means ‘the semen that heals or fructifies,’ the god’s juice that gives life. When a Christian devotees were smeared with this powerful liquid they absorbed it into their bodies and were brought into living communion with God and felt divine. The practice of drinking divine juices aided the devotee in his desired “direct access to God.” Men and women collected in their hands the mixed love juices of their union, symbolically offer them to their deity, and then proceed to drink and celebrate the Eucharist with their own semen declaring it to be “The Body of Christ.”

Bull dung!

Any ritualistic smearing that requires the molestation or rape of any child or woman should be absolutely forbidden in any form of religion that associates itself with Christianity with "Do unto others as you would have done unto you."

You and I both know there are lots of sickos out there putting filth in Jesus' mouth. You can buy it if you want, but it ain't being bought by me. At all.

If the priests really are into those ancient rituals, why can't they find those women who have the hots for priests rather than raping and molesting children and women? HUH!?!?!? And don't you even attempt to justify any of this trash or you will piss me off big time and I will fly all over your a$$. Got it?

And BTW, Jesus' Hebrew name was Yehoshua, his Aramaic name was Yeshua, both meaning "to deliver; to rescue."

That is what I said when I first read it many years ago in one of Laurence Gardner's books.

Not any more.

Despite my ecumenical approach to gender and sexuality, my Judaeo-Christianised Eurocentrism does bring on the occasional shudder when I read on what is taken for granted by some cultures.

One of my innumerable frustrations comes when I see assorted authors referring to temple priestesses as prostitutes, harlots.

Obvious to me their J-CE has them well and truly tied down.

Bugger. I've lost a site which addressed this, Confirming my Bias.

This will have to do instead:

https://medium.com/@naileao/ho...g-story-f3370f51d190
Intrigued, I started a little research and found other evidence of sacred prostitution. Justinus and Valerius Maximus, Roman writers of the early centuries, described the custom of sending brides to prostitute in the temples of Venus (equivalent to Aphrodite in the Roman pantheon) in Cyprus and in Sicca (present-day Tunisian territory) to collect dowry money. Paid sex with priestesses was also a thing. Just a regular habit in the ancient world, according to the Anchor Bible Dictionary. The money would go to the temple, of course.

In other words, our modern views of sex bear no relationship to how it was considered millennia ago.

We will never comprehend how our ancestors lived until we accept this.

I, the Aboriginal is an Australian book and television film about the life of Aboriginal Australian Phillip Roberts OBE (or Waipuldanya).
The 1962 book, written in first person, is described as the autobiography of Waipuldanya, a full-blood Aboriginal man of the Alawa tribe at Roper River (Ngukurr) in the Northern Territory, as told to Douglas Lockwood.

A fully initiated Wise Man, Waipuldanya also was a bush mechanic [A bush mechanic (Australian slang) is somebody who out of necessity and with immediate available materials, is able to solve practical problems using sometimes untraditional and inventive techniques. wiki]

Not only could he, with little if any formal training, get land and sea vehicles moving again, he also was a skilled medical assistant for the Department of Health at Darwin Hospital, taking and developing X-rays as part of his work.

Somewhere in the book, he says that while he knows our whitefellas' views on procreation, he thought his Dreamtime teachings were closer to the mark.

As you'd expect, I have no problems "accepting" different times, different cultures.

Sounds like we are in for another humongous storm, so I'd better get ready to feed the birds. For some reason their numbers have dropped of sharply over the past few days.

Aphrodite is Greek, Venus is Roman.

Though come to think of it, your original syntax could be parsed either way.

In Greek.
