Thought about this after recently being at an event where I got my picture taken with Dan Marino.

Still, I think probably the most famous person I've met would have to be Joe DiMaggio. Hard for me to beat that, thinking back.

Who's your likely #1? And is it a good story?

Let's say for purposes of clarity "met" includes the equivalent of introducing yourself, shaking hands, etc. Not just stood in a receiving line but conversed with Smile :)

Mary Wilson of the Supremes, And a woman with a kind and gentle soul. In fact before I met her, her personal assistant was gushing how great his job was to another person.

Lotsa folks come to mind, but I guess some of the bigger name brands include Diana Ross (of the same Supremes as Why's Mary Wilson Wink ;)) when we were both shopping in Westport's Pottery Barn, and a narrowly averted possible international incident when I refused to leave a Dallas hotel elevator that was commandeered (AFTER I'd secured it first) by Her Majesty's Royal Guard for Prince Edward.

Ross was nice, but harried at the time, the store's clerk wasn't paying enough attention to her so she was sorta using me as a sounding board for gift suggestions/picks... and Edward was a minor hoot, especially given this uppity colonist was riding in HIS elevator... his staff comp'd my dinner that evening in return for being spoken sternly to, albeit I ignored 'em. Wink ;)

There's also Camille Keaton (of I Spit on Your Grave fame and grand-niece of Buster Keaton) and her then husband Sydney Luft, many authors, a few Broadway "stars," and more politicians than I can mention.

When I was a kid, my hometown had a triple A ballclub and many of those players went on to the majors. Me and my buddies spent a lot of time at the ball park and got to know many of those players. One that comes to mind is Don Zimmer.

Oh, and Buzz Aldren.

He went to Montclair High School (NJ) and was in m'Dad's class. He came to speak after the moon trip and as I was a student at MHS and my Dad was a class alumni, we got second row seats. When my dad stood up during the ovation (all 6'8" tall of him), Buzz recognized him and waved us over and spoke to each of us for maybe 10 minutes and then invited us to the VIP luncheon.

Cool dude.
