When I bought my Asus laptop, it game with the hard drive partitioned into two virtual drives -- presumably the C drive for programs, and the D drive for data. But they didn't tell me that, and they didn't set it up that way, because everything went into the C drive, and within a couple of weeks I was out of space. So I moved all my data over to the D drive manually, and now I save everything there. Still a bit of a pain, but I'm used to it. But the C drive is still too small. How can I enlarge it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Otis (Tad) Richards TheOldMole of the MoleNet http://opusforty.blogspot.com/ "It's men like you that make it difficult for people to understand one another." --Superman, to the leader of the Mole Men | ||

There are many ways to do it, include using the old diskpart DOS command. Right now, I'd take advantage of a generous offer from EASEUS: http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm Its excellent software is free for personal use, and it will do what you want to do easily. Backup both partitions, download the software, install, and follow the instructions. All partitioning tools tell you to backup your data--and they're right; something can always go wrong, and of course you need a good backup anyway. But this particular program will resize your partitions without you having to backup the data--it will first move the data away from the area that's being resized so the resizing doesn't affect any data. The way to do what you want to do, by the way, is to first shrink your D partition putting the free space to the left of it in the partition map, then expand the C partition to fill that unallocated space.
