I'm getting this message with increasing frequency when I try to log onto Aantares.
What I have to do is shut the computer down completely wait a while and then boot up again.
I have a Compaq computer with Windows Vista.

Anyone else have this problem?

Not me. Your computer's being a Compaq is probably irrelevant. Vista does have its issues, but I haven't seen one like this. Is it only reaching Aantares that's affected? What is your browser, your antivirus/firewall, and your ISP? Also what kind of physical network connection do you use--an Ethernet cable, or wireless? Any of these other considerations would probably be more likely to impact your ability to reach a web site.

Thanks for your response Stephen. My ISP is AOL, Norton antivirus. I have an old clunky dial-up connection. The problem seems to affect everything but email, but I usually log onto Aanteres first so I'm going to watch and see what happens if I first log onto another place.

Or just use a different browser. Try FireFox.

That might be the least complicated solution if this continues.

Thanks Jeff.

If you're using dial-up AOL, I assume you're using AOL's browser too, which iirc is a modified version of Internet Explorer, and not an up-to-date version at that. My parents have recently finally left AOL behind in favor of a plain DSL network provider after having repeated and protracted issues with the AOL software. (They also got a new PC at the same time, jumping from Win98, iirc, to Win7.) So far things seem to be working much better for them now, even with IE (either IE7 or IE8, I don't remember which).

For myself, I've mostly used Firefox pretty much since it came out, although I'm using Chrome on my netbook the past 5 months or so.

Thanks Stephen,
I forgot to mention that if I use my old XP computer I don't have this problem. So it seems to have something to do with Vista.
I'm a basic basic person when it comes to computers so I am really reluctant to get into anything the least bit involved. LOL!

If you want to try Firefox, it's simple. Just download the installer from here (link) and run it. When it's installed and you launch the browser for the first time, it'll ask you whether you want Firefox to make a copy for itself of your existing bookmarks (if it recognizes your existing browser, which for AOL's I don't know), and it'll ask you whether you want your PC to use Firefox by default instead of your current browser. You can say Yes or No to either question, and if you say No at first, you can still change the settings later if you want.

The installation process for Chrome is pretty much that same as for Firefox, if you want to try that too, except that I think, iirc, that it can install directly from the web rather than requiring you to get the installer separately first. Chrome is available here (link).
