Installed the demo. Software works very well. Made me show IP from Australia. Cool (used the same checker from the sig line to see what I was)

Demo ran out and now I can't connect wireless or wired. Computer has some stuck something error. Very frustrating. Wrote to easy-hide and they say I did something, not their cause.

Situation was I installed it, I used it, the demo ran out and when I went to the hotel to go on the internet, Easy-Hide tried to connect and redirect, before I could get a connection from the hotel servers. They run 24 hours on each assignment, so virtually every time someone comes in, they get a new connection.

During that process, things went sour. I thought maybe I could uninstall easy-hide and get my computer back. No such luck. So I went to regedit and removed all instances of Easy-hide in the registry. No change.

To make it worse I was going to re-install and start the software, they stop it with no redirect. So much for logic, they have a default where you can only choose get password, validate or close. No internet, no password, no install. SOL and Easy-Hide IP tries to start every time I boot the computer. Can't check the box or disable it on startup. So easy enough, uninstalled again...

This morning I removed all wireless devices and cards from the configuration and let them be found and re-installed. No connection!

Here's the error message I get from FF and Chrome. What do I need to reset and how? If EHIP isn't the problem that the computer broke magically while it was in my bag, driving to the hotel. It worked on Sunday / Didn't work on Monday. I did turn it off in between... Wink
                     ;)

This could also be called:

Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

I searched that one and found a few that said something about clocks being wrong. My clock is right.

Try using System Restore to go back before you had this problem.

Also, clear your Internet cache/history/cookies and make sure you are not using a proxy.

Try a different browser. Download Opera, for example, and see if that works for you.

My guess is that something in your system is still trying to use Easy-Hide. It's redirecting you to a server that Easy-Hide uses, but that server rejects your request because you no longer have a valid copy installed. The software keeps trying until the number of redirects launches that error message about too many redirects.

Also, try using Safe Mode with Networking. Also, go to a cmd prompt and type:
ipconfig /release
followed by a return
and then
ipconfig /renew
followed by a return

How do I make sure I'm not using a Proxy?

All the rest I have on the list. I removed the network devices from the configuration and let them re-install. Now when I connect a cable the icon for wired internet disappears after about 30 seconds. When I unplug the cable, it says network connection 2 no cable connected. Getting worse not better. Frown :(

I think I can remove network connections, and I wonder if with all the starts and restarts if there's a configuration going back to Friday.

Thanks for more ideas, I'll try all of them.

The proxy configuration method varies with the browser and sometimes the browser version. What browser and version are you using?

You'll find some browser-specific instructions here:

Thanks, got it. I ran reg cleaner, couldn't find a restore point. Ran tcp/ip reset, cleared and re-installed network card, ran ipconfig and tried to remove all, it said the card wasn't responding. But did show I was logged in. Ah ha, Firewall, internet settings, Lan... Proxy was configured fixed. You got it... Smile :)

Back on and writing. So it works. Also defragged and cleaned and created a restore point with some software other than Windows XP.

Thanks

BTW the command that got me where I needed to be in DOS was Run>wscui.cpl

This support was from idiots. They answered again last week, try to uninstall the software. That's the third time and I already was very clear about what happened how I uninstalled, re-installed and uninstalled again. Sent them screen captures of the open where I could register, do the demo or exit. The guy didn't understand what I was talking about.

I asked if they were reading my messages and if they had looked at the history, the guy replied, "If you need help then I suggest you be civil."

Have they ever looked at the software they are supposedly supporting? I doubt it?

Here's the last, I've had enough of their incompetence. I wrote back thank you and now I'm done. By the way if anyone needs an IP blocker it does work great! It's $29 which is a fair price, just don't expect the farmed out support to have a clue.

"What you are getting is not being done by EHIP, it simply does not do that, there must be something else happening or some other program thats at work here. I really dont know what to suggest."

Well it was and you fixed it, and support hasn't got a clue!
