MSNBC has just reported that Elizabeth Taylor has passed away. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “I’m not familiar precisely with exactly what I said, but I stand by what I said, whatever it was.” ---Willard

National Velvet was my sister's favorite movie while growing up. It might still be. She still rides. I never related to Taylor much. I pretty much considered her part of another generation. I still don't get the fuss over "Who is afraid of Virginia Wolfe". Many I should watch it again since I am much older than the last time I saw it. But it never impressed me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a time of universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

Her most-hyped film was probably "Cleopatra." I didn't think she was that good in it. The whole film was way overblown. I thought she was better in her younger days. She didn't age particularly gracefully. She does deserve praise, though, for her work on behalf of AIDS awareness. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “I’m not familiar precisely with exactly what I said, but I stand by what I said, whatever it was.” ---Willard

The two best Elizabeth Taylor movies that are MUST SEES are "Giant" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". She is captivating in both of those and in Giant she out acts everyone in the cast. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I find that every day I live, the more I understand. Life begins at 50. That's when we really get smart.

I just saw Giant recently, more for James Dean than Elizabeth Taylor. I also nominate Reflections in a Golden Eye and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The DVD version of Reflections is shown with the yellow-gold tinted cinematography that was removed from the theatrical release. It's hard to believe the amount of censorship that was prevalent in the 1960s. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? was shut down by the police in Gnashville. I can't figure out why. The stupid Republicans want to bring back that kind of censorship. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Don't Say Say "Obama's Predecessor," if you absolutely have to. Don't Say Anything About Bain Capital Either.
