Bruce Forsyth, TV legend and host for various game shows such as “The Price Is Right,” has died. He was 89.

According to the BBC, the former “Strictly Come Dancing” presenter had been unwell for quite some time and was in the hospital earlier this year after a severe chest infection. He died at his home Friday afternoon surrounded by his wife and children.

According to The Guardian, Forsyth recently contracted bronchial pneumonia.

“It is with great sadness that the Forsyth family announce that Sir Bruce passed away this afternoon, peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Wilnelia and all his children,” a statement from his manager, Ian Wilson, read. “A couple of weeks ago, a friend visited him and asked him what he had been doing these last 18 months. With a twinkle in his eye, he responded ‘I’ve been very, very busy… being ill!'”

Born in 1928, Forsyth had enjoyed a show business career spanning over 75 years, starting when he was just 14. In 2012, Guinness World Records recognized Forsyth as having the longest television career for a male entertainer.

Forsyth first came into the public eye in the mid-1950s through the ITV series, “Sunday Night at the London Palladium.” Since then, he hosted several gameshows, including “The Generation Game,” “Play Your Cards Right,” “The Price Is Right” and “You Bet!” He co-presented “Strictly Come Dancing” from 2004 to 2013.

According to the BBC, Forsyth became Britain’s best-paid TV star.
