A minister was driving down the road and he noticed the car ahead had a bumper sticker that said Honk If You Love Jesus so he did and the driver flipped him the bird. When he got to an intersection he was able to pull up next to the car and he realized it was one of his parishioners.

I asked my wife Nedra who used to work in the prisons. She told me that it is an inmate term that means "fu*k you" or "up yours."

I really did not know. Now the story makes sense and is funny in a way. I still do not understand why the parishinor had that bumper sticker on his car in the first place, but I guess he was pissed off at the world.

Kind of interesting that I can be turning 77 shortly and never had heard of the term "flipping the bird."

Where have you been all your life? Goodness, 'flipping the bird' is probably as old as language itself. When someone doesn't like what you do or say, he will characterize his feeling by 'giving you the finger', which is another expression for the same emotion.

People do this many times while driving a car, but doing it while promoting a bumper sticker that says "Honk If You Love Jesus" is way off the beam. The guy is probably bizarre in many other ways, too.

I am surprised too that I didn’t know that term. Well, okay, what are the 16th - 20th digits of pi? (The ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle?) By the way, pi to one digit is in the Bible!! (1 Kings 7:23)

Occasionally I do "drop the ball" in the sense of not knowing something that everyone else appears to know. Usually when I ask a "stupid" question like "what does it mean to flip a bird?" others also don't know and are afraid to ask.
