I have a cat who is convinced that something interesting lives in the tailpipe of my truck. I'm sure I could persuade him otherwise if I took the time and trouble, but hesitate to make the effort on the grounds he would gain nothing by learning his mistake and, probably, would replace it with a new delusion. Should I be more militant?

Are you sure that nothing interesting lives in there?

Sean,

I hope he doesn't want to sniff around the tail pipe when the motor is running.

My wife and I once had a Keeshond female with a seizure disorder. She loved to sniff the tailpipes of parked cars, and consistently had a drop seisure seconds later.

I suggest loving the dog and keeping her away from parked cars, unless waiting for her to revive is possible (as opposed to carrying her/him). Our dog always revived quickly.

Aye, there's the rub! My personal belief that the tailpipe is uninhabited and does not need to be is not enough to sway the cat's opinion. Until I can prove, beyond the possibility of refutation, that the pipe lacks any occupant, I should hold my tongue.
Yours is a point well taken.

Aye, what's the purpose of this topic on a religious forum?

Or are you in a quandary as to what is religious and what is not?

I would say, 'Yes'.

Sela,
Tongue being held. Swaying in abeyance.
