North and South Dakota have lots of straight borders, so they are flat in that respect. Apple makes very flat products and is based in California, so that is reason to suspect CA is flat. Also, it has a flat budget. If CA isn't flat, then why are Apple products so thin? Its a good question! Another very flat state is Nevada with its flat refusal to be like all the other states. The state with the most flattery is arguably District of Columbia, but it is debatable whether flattery counts. Additionally, DC has to be excluded since congress could just define DC to be flat if they liked. Finally there is Hawaii. When we're awake, they're all flat asleep in bed.

As usual, Gus is correct. Florida is the flattest state.

There is a story in the family about my brother-in-laws first visit to Illinois when he was kid. They say he looked all around and said "wow, look at all the sky." (He was born and raised in New York State)

I know what you mean, frighty. When I drove across country in the early 80's, I was amazed how flat the country is between eastern Wyoming heading east until you get to the Pennsylvania mountains. I was in Inverness, Florida in the mid-80's when a storm was heading our way. I never saw anything like that. You could see the sheets of rain heading your way from many miles away. I'm used to the storms just all of a sudden hitting you.
