Aantares: April - June 2009 Donation...

Once again, it's time for quarterly donations to help off-set the cost of keeping Aantares up/open.

The three-month suggested donation is $14.97 ($4.99/month) via PayPal, or $12.00 ($4.00/month) via check or money order.

However, if $14.97 isn't your choice, feel free to enter/submit a $$ amount you're comfortable donating.

Contact me at if you need the details re: sending a check or money order. My new email addy is located at the 'Contact Aantares' link at the bottom of every Aantares web page.

PayPal donations can be made with any major credit card, debit card or a check and you do NOT need a PayPal account to donate. PayPal is VERY secure, fast, easy and all payment details (such as bank name and card/account #s) are kept strictly private... neither Aantares nor anyone else has access to your financial info at all whatsoever.

To use PayPal to make your Aantares donation, just click on the 'Donate' button
and enter your form of payment and $$ amount.

Best,
  *CJ

I want to contribute because I think you have created the potential for something great here CJ, but I often ask myself why I should send money to an enterprise where others are allowed to insult me so consistently and rules are applied so inconsistently.

I mean.....logging on is one thing ...Sigh :sigh:... I never give up hoping I'm gonna find some good discussions.....

.....but sending $$$ so that some people can continue to insult me? Confused  Why should I do that?

I hope I have not insulted you by mistake. Did I? If I did, I was probably joking around. I know I'm not constantly starting topics pointed at reprimanding you on how you spend your time. I'm pretty sure that's not me. Right?

Now...

Who could that be???

Dewey:

I'm not actually that insulted because I know who I am. I just find myself wondering why I should support it financially and I'm reluctant to do so.

If there is a party here who feels harassed by another, IMO it is that party's responsibilty to deal with it although it is charming of you to want to fight others' battles for them.

But since you asked, the only thing about you that I find disappointing is your overt racism.....as suggested here. Having said that, I do think people here should be free to express their opinions about public figures, no matter how distasteful they may be.

Why do you think the humor I saw in the chia head indicates overt racism? Do you think Black people have mossy hair and assuaged the guilt you felt by projecting the racism onto me where I saw humor? I think that's what's going on here.

And here's the humor I saw. Lots of entites were jumping on the merchandise bandwagon in the wake of Obama's election. In fact, Walgreens was selling Obama collector plates. (Interestingly they started out @ $20.00 and are selling now for $5.99) You know what I mean. All these t-shirts everyone is wearing... somebody is raking in the dough over Obama's election. And the Chia people were looking to capitalize on it. chia is in San Francisco, not exactly a hotbed of Ku Kluckers or white aryan nation types. I think everyone was jumping way too fast into this lake of cash and some folks made decisions without realizing the implications of repressed racism lots of white liberals have feelings of guilt over. So Walgreen's is pulling all the Chia inventory and I thought how funny. White guilt is going to put a knock on chia and Walgreens.

Ya gotta figure why Amazon did not see this problem and why Walmart evidently knew enough to leave this cash cow alone.

I would be insulted if I did not understand the deeper feelings of guilt many white liberals struggle with.

Watching Walgreens stumble all over itself was funny enough at the remote level we are all at... but it must have been frakking hilarious to watch the internal angst spread throughout the corporation... and all over the Chia company trying to grab a seat on the Obama mercantile train..

how much you wanna bet there is an opening for buyer at Walgreens HQ?

BS :bs:

I have lived amongst it enough to recognize it when I see it.

You know what I think your problem is Dewey?

Unlike the others, you do KNOW better, so you come out with all these conflicted explanations and excuses when you forget.

But that would only be true if what I said was indeed concflicted. Since it's not and you are hell bent on rejecting my white liberal guilt theory, we will have to put this issue in the unresolved column.

Dewey:

You are the one who feels guilt and denies it....it's just so near the surface that it pops out in your choice of topics at times I guess.

I've always taken the position that all of us nuture racism in some degree or another including you, including me, including blacks. Alas, it is a human condition.

Liberal guilt usually refers to the conscience-stricken person who generally suffers from a more "benevolent" racism. You know know the type....They pay their fry cooks well. and stuff their stockings at Christmas. Wink ;)

If Aantares rules are being applied inconsistently, someone needs to point it out to me. I may disagree, I may not have seen the dichotomy, I may have done it intentionally... but until someone points it out to me, no discussion will happen, right? And without discussion, assumptions are made and carried forth as fact.

If folks are being insulted, they either let it go, ALERT me, or I see it for myself.

If I see it myself and I consider it a "personal insult," I red-line the posting.

If I'm ALERT'd to the alleged insult and I concur it's a "personal insult," I'll red-line the posting... else I'll leave it be.

If the insultee lets the insult go (i.e., they continue in the topic w/out sending an ALERT) and the "personal insult" is hazy, I'll leave it be.

I don't know what else to do about personal insults. If anyone has a better way for me to handle either of these issues --inconsistency of rule application and/or personal insults-- please, bring on your suggestions. But until a better way is adopted, I can only do what I've done.
