quote:
“Hello, I’m Marco Rubio, a Senator from Florida. Right now all eyes are focused on my home state ahead of next week’s Republican presidential primary. It’s an exciting contest and I know that passions are high. So I wanted to take a moment to explain to the rest of the country why Republicans in Florida are so excited about this primary: Because we believe our country is in big trouble.

“As you know, earlier this week, President Obama delivered his fourth annual address to Congress. It was an opportunity for the President to talk about his accomplishments over the last three years and to lay out his plans for the year ahead.

“And he missed on both counts.

“You didn’t hear much talk about the success of his Administration—and that’s because there isn’t much.

“Yes, this President inherited a significant national debt, but over the last three years he’s made it worse. Our national debt has grown by nearly 50 percent since he took over, and now, for the first time since World War II, our national debt is larger than our country’s economy.

“Yes, this President inherited an economy where unemployment was too high, but over the last three years he’s made it worse. Today our unemployment rate is higher than the day he took office. In fact, since he took over, it’s been stuck over 8 percent every single month.

“This President didn’t talk about his record for one simple reason; he doesn’t want you to know about it. But you do know about it, because you feel the failure of his leadership every single day of your life.

“The bottom line is this President inherited a country with serious problems. He asked the Congress to give him the stimulus and Obamacare to fix it. The Democrats in Congress gave it to him. And not only did it not work, it made everything worse.

“President Obama has a year left in the White House. So what are his plans now to make things better? What does he plan to do now, that he didn’t do before? Well we got our answer Tuesday night. He plans to divide us against each other. To pit Americans against other Americans in the hopes of generating enough votes to get re-elected.

“He tells Americans worried about their jobs that the way to help them is to raise their bosses’ taxes.

“He tells those who are hurting that the only way they can be better off, is for others to be worse off.

SOTU:
President wants milary order in civilian society? Just how stupid is Obama?
quote:

The armed services’ ethos, although noble, is not a template for civilian society, unless the aspiration is to extinguish politics.

People marching in serried ranks, fused into a solid mass by the heat of martial ardor, proceeding in lock step, shoulder to shoulder, obedient to orders from a commanding officer — this is a recurring dream of progressives eager to dispense with tiresome persuasion and untidy dissension in a free, tumultuous society.

Progressive presidents use martial language as a way of encouraging Americans to confuse civilian politics with military exertions, thereby circumventing an impediment to progressive aspirations — the Constitution and the patience it demands.

Have we had enough of "progressives" yet?

Had I been asked to deliver the State of the Union address, it would not have delayed your dinner plans:

“The State of our Union is broke, heading for bankrupt, and total collapse shortly thereafter. Thank you and goodnight! You’ve been a terrific crowd!”

I gather that Americans prefer something a little more upbeat, so one would not begrudge a speechwriter fluffing it up by holding out at least the possibility of some change of fortune, however remote. Instead, President Obama assured us at great length that nothing is going to change, not now, not never. Indeed the Union’s state — its unprecedented world-record brokeness — was not even mentioned. If, as I was, you happened to be stuck at Gate 27 at one of the many U.S. airports laboring under the misapprehension that pumping CNN at you all evening long somehow adds to the gaiety of flight delays, you would have watched an address that gave no indication its speaker was even aware that the parlous state of our finances is an existential threat not only to the nation but to global stability. The message was, oh, sure, unemployment’s still a little higher than it should be, and student loans are kind of expensive, and the housing market’s pretty flat, but it’s nothing that a little government “investment” in green jobs and rural broadband and retraining programs can’t fix. In other words, more of the unaffordable same.

MICKEY KAUS: “Obama’s State of the Union bounce does not appear to exist. His approval actually went down in the Rasmussen poll, stayed flat on Gallup. It was a dud.”

yep .. for sure if anyone would be an authority on "illusions" it'd be the "tax-cuts-pay-for-themselves" supply-side conservaturds..they've been living in a deluded state for years ... they've lied about so much for so long they can no longer tell truth from fiction .. even worse ..for them.. fiction has become truth ...

Some do. JFK taught us that.

Many taxes never bring in the expected revenue as well, for example the Boat tax in Mass. Rich Libs like Kerry, the Richest Man to ever run for President, simply anchor their boats in RI instead to avoid the tax.

FNC just ran a list of 4 items proposed by Obama that had already passed the House and are setting in the Senate.

I think Obama is trying to pull off a Truman thing and run against a "do-nuthin" Congress. Kinda spoils the picture a bit that it is the Senate, controlled by Dems, that isn't doing anything.

Apparently Libs are willing to sacrifice the Senate to keep Obama in power.

There is always a breaking point. The more significant the tax, the more risk that the taxee will make the effort to evade it.

So they can take a little,
then a little more,
but at some point they try for a little more and end up with not just a little less, but nothing.

Kerry could dock his boat in MA, and he would pay $437,500 in sales tax and an annual excise tax of about $70,000.

Sail it up to RI and he pays substantially less. So RI's boat docking and all the support employment is prospering, MA? Not so much.

They went for too big of a bite of the apple and ended up with the worm.

Libs will never admit this is nature of things, even while they are sailing their yachts from MA to RI.

http://bostonherald.com/track/...ps_town_on_sails_tax

If the richest guy to ever run for President will do this, how much more will folks with far lower disposable income levels?
