Each - Perhaps Most

Many of us here have seen time in one of the Services. However, when I was in both times I don't recall using the term: Service. Not that Service wasn't used way before by higher the High Brass. Or civilians. " Were you Army or Navy ? " But this is getting way off the track. Things one does not recall - remember. There are some days/weeks during Korea, I do not remember. I believe not many but there are some. Thinking back now - more than a little.

BUT ! There are many weeks and possibly months that I have not recalled, I believe, since what occured did or did not happen ! A stitch of time starting with going over on the Queen Mary. Volunteering I got a job, for a new buddy, and me that lasted the whole trip over. Abit over 4 days. Polishing the railings all over the Queen Mary. The main floor and the one above that. I thought of Gilbert Sullivan - " Polishing it so carefully that now we are the Captains of the Queen's Navy . . . " Nothing but doing the polishing. In France & Germany there are some months when all is a complete blank ! I recall coming back from (?) the front. have no idea - where or how I got ! 4 to 5 weeks in a small wooden some miles south of Paris. A complete zero. From there, I suppose I was released to go where ? I awoke while in an old German Airport. Walking with another GI. Spotting about a dozen of old German soldiers. Zero about that. Outside walk/marching along with about a Company of us. Then, 15 20 of us GIs in a truck moving into, I'm guessing, Pilson. A Tiger tank firing at us. Blank until sleeping around the truck. Up into Grazlits, Checoslovakia(sp). Enough !

Anyone else ?

yeah .. it all blurs together sometimes william .. lack of sleep and living in terror will do that to you .. imo
