After six weeks of cold (30°-40° days), we're back to ~ 75°. The tops of m'toes and the inside crick of my elbows got a lil' too pink between yesterday & today. Rain this weekend... thunderstorms from Cali. *CJ |

Well, it snowed in 1977. January 19th, 1977. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-157928857.html climate tends to run in cycles within larger cycles. We are in an inter-glacial period, a period when the ice sheets from the last ice age began a retreat toward a point that will be known as a glacial minimum. It is a warmiong period, yet within that larger warming cycle there are smaller cycles of cooling, like the mini-ice age a few hundred years ago that seems to be associated with the sun spot cycle. The Earth has seen periods of much warmer climate long before human industry was around and the Earth has seen periods of much colder climate long before human industrial activity. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Has anyone seen Schrodinger? ~~~~~~~ History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. It's not so much about temps as about precip and winds, or lack thereof...I can't believe I have to keep 'splainin' this.

Wind and the precipitation from weather fronts are always, always. always the result of temperature differentials, the result of heat from the sun and how much of that heat is retained in the atmosphere and how much is reflected, otherwise known as the Earth's albedo.
Keep the faith, believing in that which is put forth as the good news is always good... as long as it helps what socialists believe in... right? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Has anyone seen Schrodinger? ~~~~~~~ History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. It's a light fluffy snow, but with the warmth today, it has condensed considerably. I have an estimated 7' icicle on the corner of the cabin. Very pretty.

Lady Bug is really so sweet. It reminds me of my grandmother. She and all the grannies formed a club called "The Lady Bugs." They met every month. Without fail they would descend upon a member's home with their walkers, oxygen tanks, and all wearing pretty hats and white gloves. They would have tea and little cakes and share pictures of their great grandchildren. Does this mean that Count will now call you Lady Lady Bug? Peachy |

I'm good with the name I have. Wonderful to have options though. Beautiful bright sunny day here in Massachusetts. Temps will likely reach mid 30s which is summer like to us right now. Heavy rains headed our way Sunday, Monday and part of Tuesday. Non-scientific observation...heavy rains this time of year (and we have had a number of heavy rains so far this winter) are not at all typical for this time of year here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John ...it appeares no other thing to mee, then a foule and pestilent congregation of vapours. Better choices than Bush. And, as we know, Gore was the choice of the American people. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Republicans' main complaint is that President Obama hasn't done a good enough job cleaning up Bush's mess. Full moon for the Cinco de Mayo this year. Listen to the Republicans howl! |

Dear Lady Winkin,
Just noticed your Great Divide thingee. excuse me for asking but it that Divide business, on or near where the Earth's crust is ? Quite similar to the terrible Haiti(sp) problems ? My no memory cannot recall what it is called when the crusts move causing that terrible business (earth quake) ? I know I'm going to deep into my little savings to send down there to what little help I can offer. Are they not Americans, also ? Central ? Maybe not as thewir skins are just a deep color not exactly like the North people ? ? ? Well, not anymore for are we not from all other Nations to live here in the NORTH both FREE and PROSPER (?)How are they different from US ? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William |

I missed a portion of this discussion. Not to worry about my cabin, it's built to withstand any snow load that comes along. I cringed when I wrote the checks for the structural materials, but I knew they were needed. My water is stored in a cistern in the basement and my winters supply of wood is on my porch. No need to go outside if I don't want to.
