Henry,
Your barnyard references remind me of another linguistic bifurcation. For some, horse and hoarse (a raspy voice) are homophones, while to others horse and hawse are identical in sound. (A hawse is the place upon a ship's bow where its hawseholes are located. A horse's hawsehole is in a different area.) Seán |
