Sean,
Would you be totally offended if I told you I don't get it? What isn't gold...the pot or what he's depositing into it? And is the book or whatever he's reading relevent at all? --Linda ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.” ― Frank Zappa |

Linda,
Of course I'm not offended. But I'm a bit surprised because the meaning seems quite clear to me: His greenness says the subject is a leprechaun, a type well known for owning pots of gold. This one is sitting on a pot and pooping, as is indicated by the book he's reading (leprechauns always read when going potty). Leprechauns are Irish, which means they're prone to sarcasm. That's why he speaks thus to his invisible interrogator, who was hoping he had found a fortune. I may be needing a visit to the Reality Check Clinic to recalibrate my apperceptive apparatus. Seán |

Pygmalion, a king of ancient Cyprus, was also a sculptor. He carved from ivory a statue so beautiful
he fell in love with it. At length, dispairing because his kisses were receieved so coldly, he prayed to Venus for relief. His plea was granted and the statue became a warm and loving woman who took the name of Galatea. And, it is said, she bore two children. My cartoon reverses the story: An ardent woman becomes cold and distant after marriage. This has been known to happen. Usually, I believe, the cause can be traced to some misbehavior by the husband. But there are other possibilities.
