Beyond hope - or recall - ruined or recall - dying or dead - exhausted. And for the so-called weaker ones, early ladies - pregnant: ( some guessing - )

This word all alone, by itself, has at least double meaningS. It means much more to everyone. But most everyone refuses to look at, investigate, comprehend its various meanings. We fear this word for it means the end. A definite by - bye, so long, I'll be seeing you - hopefully on the other side - where ever that is.

Forgotten - how long will it be before you will be forgotten ? If you are not famous, will it be more than 50 years after you've said I'll be seeing you . . . How long will it be ? I'd say certainly after 100 years most everyone will be forgotten. Unless there is a large picture of you one a wall somewhere that people will be able to see. Unless you have made some kind of mark.

This uncomfortable - right ?

     The way I see it, we are allowed to camp here on earth for just a little while. When our time is up, we must move on. Good campers know it is best to leave their campsite undisturbed, with no trace to show they were ever there at all. That is the way I hope the world will be after I have gone.

I will always remember you because of your wonderful phrase, "Upstairs Friends," which I found myself using spontaneously in my journal a few days ago, almost as though I'd come up with it myself. And because of your unforgettable story about the Archangel Michael.

In the last 15 years a kind of "immortality" has become possible for people that simply didn't exist in the past. A couple of days ago I looking at a website that was the work of a man who passed on several years ago. The link was provided by his sister. Although she didn't exactly spell it out, I assume her brother was a fairly young man. It was a Geocities website, and as you may know Yahoo is going to be pulling the plug on Geocities in a few months.

His sister was upset because she didn't have the password and Yahoo wouldn't give it to her. She wanted to put up a memorial page for her brother if nothing else, and preferably move the site to a "live" host so she maintain it and possibly add to it. Fortunately, there were people around who were able to tell her how to do that and so assure her brother's virtual immortality. I was happy for her because it's a beautiful site and deserves to be perpetuated.

     When I leave here it will be OK for people to remember me if they so desire, but I really do not care, one way or the other. Today I was looking at the statue of Juan Oñate, who colonized New Mexico. The Spanish here consider him a hero, the Indians hate him for his cruelties and most Anglos have no idea who he was. Only the pigeons take an active interest in the statue.

Dear Missie Linda & Sir Sean -

Thank you. The other day, I received a large envelope from one of my grand children - Lindsey Drummond. She is ten. This is a copy that she used for her school. It is titled Bravery and it lists a couple of things about me also the two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star I received way back then in WW2 and Korea. In not than many years I will be buried in Arlington. Just for my Grand Kids - and their Grand Kids. I think it'll mean much to them. She has a sister and a brother. I have two grand daughters now in Iowa. A grand daughter in Ann Arbor and grand sons in California, another who's into acting in NYC. My kids visit me 2 - 3 times a year. There is nothing like that while going on 84.
